UKIAH, CA., 5/18/26 — A serial rapist from Fort Bragg was given the maximum state prison sentence after his DNA sample led to a match for a cold case in Ukiah, the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office said.

William Hill, 42, received two consecutive sentences– six years for felony assault to commit rape and seven years to life for kidnapping to commit rape after his DNA was linked to a 2019 cold case. In total, Hill received 158 months to life in prison.

In 2022, Hill was convicted of sex crimes that occurred in April and July of 2021 involving two separate victims, one for assault to commit rape and the other for attempted sexual penetration by force with a foreign object.

During that case, Hill’s DNA was collected and ultimately matched the perpetrator in the 2019 case, prosecutors said.

If you or someone you know was a victim or witness of Hill’s crimes, even if it happened in a different county, don’t hesitate to contact the district attorney’s office at (707) 463-4211.
