MENDOCINO CO., CA., 5/12/26 — Caltrans District 1, which covers Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino counties, is looking to award a scholarship to one student who wants to make a difference in the transportation field.

The $2,250 scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis, taking into consideration the student’s commitment to a transportation-related career — which the scholarship can help jump-start — as well as academic achievement and extracurricular or community activities, as well as financial need, according to Caltrans District 1.

Caltrans officials said this is an opportunity for students to take their first step toward a career that will leave an impact on transportation in California, whether it’s safety improvement, environmental protection or strengthening connections between communities.

Applications for the Caltrans District 1 Scholarship program are open until June 19, and any high school senior or college undergrad student from Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake or Mendocino counties may apply at kaleidoscope.com.
