MENDOCINO CO., 4/13/26 — A man on parole was arrested in Covelo on suspicion of having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle last week, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said.

A deputy was patrolling the 23000 block of Hopper Lane in Covelo on Friday just before 12:30 a.m. when a car with multiple vehicle code violations was spotted, including a broken taillight and an expired registration. The car was pulled over and the deputy made contact with Brock Rogers, 44, who was on active parole for an assault with a deadly weapon, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Sunday.

As a parolee, law enforcement was permitted to search his vehicle and person. The deputy allegedly found alcoholic beverage bottle caps on Rogers and an open container inside the vehicle, which were violations of his parole.

Rogers was booked into jail on a no-bail parole hold.
