MENDOCINO CO., 4/23/26 — Deputies in Mendocino County arrested a man on suspicion of a Yorkville burglary, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

On Tuesday just before 11 a.m., deputies were called to the 26000 block of state Highway 128 in Yorkville on a report of a burglary that had just occurred.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 55-year-old man confronted the suspect when he arrived home and noticed that the suspect allegedly had property belonging to him. The alleged victim was able to get his belongings back and the suspect left the scene after being confronted.

Using a description of the suspect provided by the alleged victim, deputies soon spotted someone matching the description on Highway 128. Contact was made with Luther Lane, 26, who the Sheriff’s Office said corroborated the victim’s version of events and the victim positively identified Lane as the suspect.

Lane was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary. He remained in custody as of Wednesday night, being held on $100,000 bail.
