Betty is available for adoption at Ukiah Animal Shelter. (Ukiah Animal Shelter via Bay City News)

UKIAH, CA., 4/14/26 — This week’s Featured Pet is Betty, available for adoption through the Ukiah Animal Shelter.

Betty is a quiet soul with the softest eyes and the gentlest heart. Found abandoned, underweight, and suffering from skin issues, this five-year-old girl has already been through so much. But thanks to some much-needed care and kindness, Betty is finally starting to heal — both inside and out. She’s still learning that people can be good, and that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Right now, she’s a bit shy and reserved, preferring to observe from a safe distance as she takes everything in. But with time, patience, and a calm environment, we know she’ll blossom into a loyal, loving companion. Betty was in a foster home for almost three months and returned to the shelter when her foster guardian needed to deal with a medical issue. To read Betty’s foster updates, head to her webpage: mendoanimalshelter.com/dogblog/betty. Betty is a homebody, and the best environment for her would be one that is predictable, calm, and peaceful. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let Betty come out of her shell at her own pace — she just might be your perfect match.
