MENDOCINO CO., 2/27/25 – Off-highway vehicle, or OHV, trails in the Upper Lake Ranger District of the Mendocino National Forest have reopened after wet weather created dangerous riding conditions, the U.S. Forest Service said Friday.
The Forest Service closed over 135 miles of OHV trails and four campgrounds after February storms brought heavy rain and wind to the area, resulting in downed trees and unsafe driving conditions.
The Forest Service said downed trees are likely on trails, so riders should drive with caution, especially on blind curves.
They asked that riders report any downed trees, slides, or other hazards to the nearest ranger station.
Finally, the Forest Service said firefighter training is taking place at Middle Creek Campground. As a result, there may be traffic and additional activity in the area.
