MENDOCINO CO., 2/17/26 – A man was killed Monday afternoon on state Highway 1 south of Point Arena after his pickup truck struck a tree, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man was driving north on the highway when the truck left the road and hit a tree around 1 p.m. Monday, the CHP said.

Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the driver, a Gualala resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The CHP said the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been factors in the collision.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the CHP’s Ukiah-area office at (707) 467-4420.
