MENDOCINO CO., 2/19/26 — A power pole fell across both lanes of state Highway 1 near Anchor Bay on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a full road closure, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported around 3:05 p.m. near the intersection of Iverson Road and Highway 1, between Point Arena and Anchor Bay. Fire crews shut down traffic after determining the pole was damaged, and PG&E was requested to the scene.

According to PG&E’s outage map, the pole fell as a result of the winter storm that passed through the area, bringing high winds and heavy rain to the coast. Approximately 22 customers are without power.

As of 5 p.m., the roadway remained fully closed in both directions while crews worked to clear the hazard. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes, with Ten Mile Cut Off Road being the most likely bypass for the time being.

PG&E has not provided an estimated time for power restoration, and CHP has not indicated when the roadway will reopen.
