UKIAH, CA., 1/16/25 – Physician assistant Vincent Duong has joined MCHC Health Centers to provide medical care to patients in Ukiah, the health care provider announced Thursday.
Duong will see patients of all ages at the Hillside Health Center.
Originally from San Diego, Duong is a first-generation American whose parents are Vietnamese immigrants. He credits his parents with instilling a spirit of service in him at a young age.
Duong earned his bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of California, San Diego. After graduating, he worked as an emergency medical technician, or EMT, and a certified nursing assistant.
He later earned a dual master’s degree in public health and physician assistant studies from Touro University California in Vallejo. During his clinical rotations, he gained experience working in federally qualified health centers such as MCHC.
Duong’s approach to care blends holistic health, lifestyle considerations and evidence-based medical practices, MCHC said.
“It’s important to take the time to ask patients how things are going,” Duong said. “I’ll ask things like, ‘If your mind is a cargo net, what’s caught in that cargo net? What’s weighing you down, and what’s lifting you up?’” He keeps notes during consultations and refers back to them in future visits.
Duong said he seeks to understand not only the condition a patient is experiencing but also its root causes. For example, asthma symptoms may be linked to workplace conditions or exposure to secondhand smoke at home.
Before moving to the area, Duong spent time in Ukiah, where a close friend lives. Outside of work, he enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking and fly-fishing, playing soccer and watching anime.
