MENDOCINO CO., 1/13/25 – Off-highway vehicle, or OHV, trails in the Upper Lake Ranger District of the Mendocino National Forest have reopened after wet weather created dangerous riding conditions, the U.S. Forest Service said Monday.

The Forest Service closed over 135 miles of OHV trails and three campsites after December storms brought heavy rain and wind to the area, resulting in downed trees and unsafe driving conditions.

To prepare the trails for reopening, 55 volunteers worked over the weekend to restore access, primarily by removing fallen trees.

“Mendocino National Forest staff are incredibly grateful for the support from the OHV community in restoring the trail system,” the Forest Service said.
