MENDOCINO CO., 12/22/25 โ€“ Parts of state Highway 1 are closed in Mendocino County due to flooding and other storm impacts, Caltrans announced Monday.

A portion of state Highway 1 is closed near Point Arena due to flooding.

The closure is from Lighthouse Road near Point Arena to the Garcia River, just south of Stornetta Drive.

A second closure of Highway 1, north of Westport, is due to a sinkhole. That closure extends from Westport Cemetery to Wages Creek Bridge. The Mendocino Voice has contacted Caltrans and is awaiting additional information.

Drivers should avoid these areas and seek alternate routes.

The closures come as an atmospheric river continues to inundate the region with heavy rain. As a result, the National Weather Service issued a countywide flood warning through 10 a.m. Monday.
