UPDATE 11 a.m., 12/22/25 – Highway 128 has reopened according to Caltrans. Drive carefully!
MENDOCINO CO., 12/21/25 – A portion of state Highway 128 is closed in Mendocino County due to flooding, Caltrans announced Sunday.
Highway 128 is closed from its junction with Highway 1 to just east of Flynn Creek Road.
Motorists can use Comptche-Ukiah Road or Mountain View Road as alternate routes to reach Anderson Valley from Highway 1.
The closure comes as an atmospheric river continues to inundate the region with heavy rain. As a result, the National Weather Service issued a countywide flood warning until 8 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, the Navarro River has yet to reach its minor flood stage of 23 feet. As of 8:15 p.m. Sunday, the river had reached 19.3 feet.
No estimated time of reopening has been provided by Caltrans.
Caltrans asks motorists to track current road conditions at https://roads.dot.ca.gov/ or by calling 1 (800) 427-7623.

That’s just west of Flynn Creek Rd., not east. So you can get to the coast via 128 to Flynn Creek to Comptche Ukiah Rd.
