MENDOCINO CO., 11/11/25 — A felon on probation with a warrant for his arrest was taken into custody by deputies in Mendocino County this weekend and a search of his residence allegedly uncovered drugs and firearms, the Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Deputies were looking for Westport resident Jeremy Jones, 50, on a warrant for allegedly being a felon in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner.

On Sunday at 9:40 p.m., deputies in the 23800 block of DeHaven Creek Road in Westport saw his vehicle parked in front of a residence and they took him into custody.

Jones was on probation and therefore the Sheriff’s Office could legally search his residence. Deputies allegedly found a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle there, along with live ammunition. As a felon, Jones is prohibited from having guns or ammo. Deputies also allege they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.

Jones was booked into Mendocino County Jail on his warrant and for allegedly being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammo, and possession of meth. He is being held on $65,000 bail.
