UKIAH, CA., 11/12/25 – Ukiah High School’s varsity football team hosts a playoff game Friday and it will be against an East Bay team that had to forfeit a game two weeks ago because of a disciplinary matter affecting much of its roster.
Ukiah takes on Antioch High School in the first round playoff matchup in Division 3 of the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at the school at 1000 Low Gap Road in Ukiah and tickets can be purchased here.
Antioch had to forfeit its Oct. 30 game against Liberty High School in Brentwood because of what the school’s principal said in a letter to the campus community was disciplinary action taken against “a significant portion” of the roster for “violations of the District’s Code of Conduct.”
The school and the Antioch Unified School District have not released more information about what prompted the discipline and forfeit of the game. Antioch High School’s Facebook page had its comments turned off after releasing the letter by principal John Jimno, who wrote that he was “legally prohibited from sharing specific details about the incident.”
The school allowed the football team to resume its season last weekend, when Pittsburg High School beat Antioch 56-3. Now comes the NCS CIF Division 3 playoffs, where Antioch’s Panthers team will travel to Mendocino County to take on Ukiah High and the Wildcats.
Ukiah’s team went 6-4 in the regular season while Antioch’s record was 7-3. They are the Nos. 4 and 5 seeds in the eight-team tournament and the winner of Friday’s game will play next week in the semifinals against either No. 1 Vintage High School from Napa or No. 8 San Leandro High School.

No one seems to be willing to stop a Bay Area high school football team from getting back to the football field after a heinous hazing incident was caught on camera. The video, a snippet of which was broadcast by NBC Bay Area but has been viewed in its entirety by SFGATE, shows members of the Antioch High School football team circling a single person, who is on the floor. The group of football players slap that person with a towel, pour water on the person, throw a helmet at the person and other clothes on top of the person, kick at the person and even try to remove the person’s underpants. All throughout the video, the person on the floor is screaming while the football players laugh at their actions.
