WILLITS, CA., 10/19/25 — On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Willits, with the air clear and bright from the past days’ rains, over 800 people showed up to take part in national “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump’s policies and what organizers term an administration sliding into authoritarianism.

Of particular concern are raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, threats to send the National Guard into cities over the objections of governors and mayors, and cuts to health care and food programs.

The protests took place against a backdrop of a federal government shutdown with no end in sight.

Kate Black, a photographer and member of one of the organizing groups, Indivisible Willits, objected to the administration’s deep cuts to the federal government.

“The Trump regime is trying to dismantle the administrative state,” she said.

She said that particular language was used in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a blueprint for expanding presidential power.

“That means reducing federal funding for all kinds of social services, including health and science research. We’re going to see a huge reduction in support for medical insurance. We’re already seeing food banks reduce offerings. We fear the reduction of services of rural clinics and hospitals. We’re also very concerned about attacks on immigrants, many of whom are contributing to this country in significant ways,” Black said.

Before she retired, Black was a physician assistant in Willits at a clinic that serves people with and without health insurance. Over half of Mendocino County residents are covered by Medi-Cal, Covered California or Medicare.

  1. Standing around for a day with slogan signs in a pointless event where political conversations are had about mental masturbation, whining, and complaining, leaving participants only temporarily satisfied. Now it’s Monday. It’s just like it was Friday… nothing has changed. Not one single thing. Now shut up and git back to work.

    1. Monday morning and President Trump thanks you…no King took his place. Isn’t it true the demonstrators are okay with a “Leftist King” in the White House? We have already seen that in the last administration. (Lawfare, skipping nomination process, while advocating for packing Supreme Court, adding two new states to gain Senate majority, using illegals as future voters and increasing House representation, etc.)

  2. Why didn’t these white boomers protest Obama deporting 3 times the number of illegals Trump has. Why didn’t they make their signs back then and have a nice day in the park?

  3. Dave- perhaps you are too young to remember the effective protests many of your elders participated in to stop the Vietnam War and change the Civil Rights for many in this beautiful country. Now “shut up” as you so childishly suggest and learn your history.

    1. Times change, the 60’s are long over and the boomers have become everything they protested against. The majority of the country want ICE to deport illegals just like Obama the deportee in chief, Trump was elected in a democracy sorry, many democrats want ICE to do what they’re doing.

    2. So 95% of protest participants were aging White hippies reliving old memories of how self-important they once thought of themselves. Although historically, President Nixon and Henry Kissinger brought about the American withdrawal from Vietnam, not protests. Southern Democrats opposed the 1964 Civil Rights bill, however Republican Minority Leader Everett M. Dirksen obtained enough key Republican votes to help pass it, not protests. Becoming an elder, one remembers all the emotions and kind of forgets the facts. Eh, Bradford?

  4. No matter what you think the left is a nonviolent group. The political deaths over the last 10 years were all Trump supporters or unhappy past supporters. At least now the stories about Anti fada can have real people behind them. ten years of lies about a nonexistence group was too funny to watch.

  5. I don’t understand how the majority of our CA citizens can be so out of touch with reality. No Kings? There are 3 branches of our government. We have the courts to nullufy some of the outrageous stuff that Trump tries to do. We also have congress but those idiots choose to be on vacation. It’s a shame that we pay those idiots to not govern. I don’t understand why any city/state would not appreciate the Feds coming in to support their police. This de-fund the police thing is crazy.

  6. Not sure why the City of Ukiah allowed protestors in the Pumpkin Fest Parade. Isn’t there a City of Ukiah Policy that doesn’t allow Protests during a parade? If there was a Turning Point Float, liberals and the wokesters would have a fit.

  7. Everyone will remember where they were and what they were doing when the “No Kings” protests changed the world.

  8. 9-11 is a example of being so ignorant and passive , Islamic thinking is insane and letting Iran getting a atomic bomb is a sure way to see them start getting rid of all the infidels ,that’s converting or killing anyone who is not of there insane beliefs wake up before it’s to late. And you can’t reason with insanity !
