MENDOCINO CO., 10/13/25 — Cal Fire is lifting the suspension of residential outdoor burn permits in Mendocino County, the agency said Sunday.
Beginning Monday at 8 a.m., people possessing current and valid agriculture and residential burn permits will be able to resume burning on permissible burn days, Cal Fire said. Agricultural fires must be inspected ahead of time by Cal Fire until the end of peak fire season, and some inspections may be required for other non-agricultural burns.

Permits are only for people residing in the State Responsibility Area or where Cal Fire has jurisdiction, the agency said. It is up to the landowner to check with local fire agencies to find out if any additional permits are necessary or if certain burns are prohibited.
While conducting a burn, residents must have possession of a signed permit, according to Cal Fire. Before burning, contact the Mendocino County Air Management District at (707) 463-4391 to make sure that all the required permits have been obtained and that it is a permissive burn day.
