MENDOCINO CO., 9/14/25 – Jack Peters Creek Bridge on state Highway 1 in Mendocino will be closed overnight starting Monday, said Caltrans.

The nightly closure will take place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and runs through Thursday.

The closure is part of a nearly year-long construction project to widen the bridge and upgrade its railings. A pedestrian walkway is also being installed.

During the closure, a contractor will install the new bridge deck surface.

According to Caltrans, the $15.5 million project is nearing completion.

Traffic along Highway 1 will be impacted from county Road 500D to Lansing Street in Mendocino. Motorists will not be able to travel from Fort Bragg or Caspar to Mendocino, or vice versa, during the scheduled times. Motorists should plan accordingly.

Emergency vehicles will still be able to utilize the bridge under escort.
