MENDOCINO CO., 8/26/25 — The collaborative group Russian River Confluence, with more than 30 members spanning tribal governments, nonprofits, government agencies, landowners, and conservation districts, including the Mendocino County Resource Conservation District, will host its first Summer Convening since 2017 on Thursday in Geyserville.
The gathering is meant to share ideas and coordinate to protect water resources and support thriving communities and ecosystems across the Russian River watershed.
“Across the watershed, people are rolling up their sleeves every day—restoring habitat, improving water resilience, and building community capacity,” said Oona Heacock, executive director of Conservation Works, the fiscal home of the Russian River Confluence. “This convening brings those doers together to compare notes, close coordination gaps, and leave with clear next steps we can act on immediately.”
The Summer Convening will feature working sessions designed to elevate lessons from recent projects and pilots, lay the groundwork for collective action, and coordinate action on watershed resilience and potential joint funding.
An important element is the work of cohost Russian River Regional Monitoring Program, an independent regional science and monitoring program governed by regional and local entities. A summary of work from the gathering will be available on the Russian River Confluence and Russian River Regional Monitoring Program websites.
