UKIAH, CA., 7/18/25 — The Ukiah Branch Library will host a poetry open mic event Saturday called the LOBA Poetry Series, an event for young people and adults to share their poems or listen to others present their work. Guest poet Jessica Cohn, typically a nonfiction writer, will share a new collection of poems.

The library has for years hosted the poetry series, which takes place every third Saturday of the month to showcase work from local writers. The open mic is free and open to anyone who wants to share their portfolio.

Cohn, a writer who has lived in several states and now calls California home, has published book reviews, news stories, and features in newspapers and magazines. This weekend, Cohn will be sharing her collection “Gratitude Diary,” which covers both regret and illumination, among other themes

The event will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Ukiah Branch Library, 105 N. Main St. in Ukiah. For more information on the event or to ask questions, contact the library by calling (707) 463-4490 or emailing carrm@mendocinocounty.gov.
