MENDOCINO CO., 6/22/25 – The United States struck three sites in Iran early Sunday, inserting itself into Israel’s war aimed at destroying the country’s nuclear program in a risky gambit to weaken a longtime foe despite fears of a wider regional conflict.
Addressing the nation from the White House, President Donald Trump asserted that Iran’s key nuclear sites were “completely and fully obliterated.” There was no independent damage assessment.
It was not clear whether the U.S. would continue attacking Iran alongside its ally Israel, which has been engaged in a nine-day war with Iran. Trump acted without congressional authorization, and he warned that there would be additional strikes if Tehran retaliated against U.S. forces.
“There will either be peace or there will be tragedy for Iran,” he said.
Mendocino County’s national, state and local leaders promptly responded to Trump’s decision to send B-2 bombers equipped with bunker-buster bombs and submarine-launched missiles at Iranian targets.
Senator Alex Padilla, D-Los Angeles, supports the effort to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities, but decried Trump bypassing Congressional approval to implement the strikes, calling it “unacceptable.” He called for using diplomatic channels to de-escalate the situation. “I’m praying for the safety of our service members and all Americans in the region,” he said.
Senator Adam Schiff, D-Burbank, applauded the military and the accuracy of the strike, calling Iran a “malevolent actor” that is pro-terrorism and anti-America and Israel. He expressed concern that the strike was made with what he called “an absence of evidence that Iran had made a decision to build a bomb” and that it was done without congressional approval.
“For the sake of the tens of thousands of American servicemembers stationed across the region, and others who may be mobilized in the future, we must ensure that Donald Trump cannot unilaterally immerse us in yet another war without justification to Congress or the American people,” Schiff said.
Congressman Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, criticized the fact that Trump did not receive congressional authorization for the strike. “This isn’t just dangerous—it’s a direct violation of the Constitution and Congress’ authority to declare war,” he said “I oppose usurping congressional power, from domestic policymaking, budgetary spending, trade, and now to national security.”
State Senator Mike McGuire, D-Healdsburg, and Assemblymember Chris Rogers, D-Santa Rosa, have not released statements about the attack.
Iran has promised to retaliate and in response, California’s State Threat Assessment Center is actively monitoring any credible threats to the state and its residents, Gov. Gavin Newsom said.

What? Our elected federal representatives who are democrats oppose President Trumps’ actions to eliminate or reduce the possibility that Iran produces nuclear weapons? Shocking. Would it be possible to get congressional authority and keep plans quiet? I don’t think so. I am pretty sure democrat Presidents have done the same in the past.
trump’s own Admin stated just a couple of months ago that Iran was not building nuclear weapons. Where is trump’s evidence that they are – and where did he get it from? Do you think it is possible that felon trump, the person who has lied more than any person in record history, is lying?

I am wondering how ignorant are some of these people who didn’t know that he does not need their approval. Knowing how deep the corruption goes I don’t blame him for not notifying them. Because we know that too many of them are wrapped up in the political Deep Pockets and they would warn them that they were coming. I’d like to thank president Trump!
