UPDATE, 6:24 P.M., 5/13/25 – The vegetation fire has been extinguished by Cal Fire crews, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday.

Crews will remain in the area for at least an hour.

MENDOCINO CO., 5/13/25 – Fire crews are responding to a wildfire on state Highway 20 west of the J Bar S Ranch, the buffalo ranch, and east of Calpella, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

At 5:53 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office published a Nixle alert warning residents of the wildfire.

The wildfire is near Highway 20 between Potter Valley Road and the buffalo ranch.

The Sheriff’s Office asks people to avoid the area. No evacuation warnings or orders are in place.

The Sheriff’s Office suggests residents visit mendoready.org for wildfire readiness and emergency information.
