MENDOCINO CO., 4/29/25 – A water quality alert went out Tuesday evening for the town of Mendocino, according to county health officials.
Citations and compliance orders were sent to three businesses west of state Highway 1 in Mendocino, all of which were all given boil orders, the State Water Resources Control Board said Tuesday.
The Board did not specifically mention which businesses are affected by the boil order.
All businesses and residents in the town of Mendocino west of Highway 1 are advised to proactively test their water for safety.
Mendocino County Environmental Health is working with the affected businesses and others, the county said.
Residents with questions can go to Harvest Market at Mendosa’s at 10501 Lansing St. in Mendocino on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to talk to Mendocino County Public Health staff, the county said. Health staff will also be there at the same time on Thursday.

Are they sure this is only west? What kind of issue is there with the water? What is the source or potential source of the problem? The article inidicates that three business were told to boil their water. How are the residents and others suppose to test their water? People should not have to go the market for better details and wait for tomorrow to boot. This is inadequate information considering potential consequences.
Mendocino residents and businesses are all on their own wells.
Hi Kenneth. We reported what the County provided us. We are waiting for more details from the county. Thank you for reading The Mendocino Voice!
Kenneth, it’s probably some combination of fecal bacteria and smug.
Any digging going on just east of Beaujolais? Wells, soil turning for a garden,New septic lines? Has County actually taken a walk around area or sampled wells?
