UKIAH, CA., 4/22/25  — The Ukiah Unified School District Board of Trustees is seeking a replacement board member in Trustee Area 6 following the resignation of board member Rebeca Orozco, the district board said Monday. 

Orozco’s term was scheduled to expire on Dec. 11, 2026. The remaining members of the board, after an interview process, will appoint a qualified individual to fill the vacancy. That person will serve the remainder of Orozco’s term and can run in the next regular election to continue serving on the board.

Applicants must be registered voters who reside within the boundaries of Trustee Area 6. Broadly, those boundaries are south of Gobbi Street and between S. Dora Street and U.S. Highway 101. 

Interested individuals must first contact the Mendocino County Office of Elections at (707) 234-6819 to confirm residency and voter registration status.

After confirming residency and voter status, an application must be completed. Applications are available at www.uusd.net or can be picked up in person at the Ukiah Unified District Service Center, located at 511 S. Orchard Ave. in Ukiah.

Completed applications must be received at the service center by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 23. Interviews with qualified applicants is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28. The appointment will be made in open session at that meeting.
