MENDOCINO CO., 3/16/25 –  An earthquake was recorded Sunday evening in northwestern Lake County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. 

The magnitude 4.4 quake happened at 7:13 p.m. approximately 6.2 miles north of Lake Pillsbury and 14.9 miles northeast of Potter Valley.

The quake had a depth of around 5.5 miles and was reportedly felt as far away as Fort Bragg and Santa Rosa, according to the geological survey and social media.  

A magnitude 2.1 aftershock was reported by the geological survey at 7:40 p.m. with the epicenter approximately 4.9 miles north of Lake Pillsbury and 14.1 miles northeast of Potter Valley.

No structural damage or injuries were immediately reported following the quake.
