Every week The Mendocino Voice showcases an adoptable shelter pet from across Mendocino County.Â

FORT BRAGG, CA., 3/21/25 – This week’s Coast Featured Pet is Sophie, an eight-year-old mixed-breed dog available for adoption at the Mendocino Coast Humane Society.
Here’s her profile from the MCHS:
Introducing Sophie, our longest-term dog resident! This German Shepherd Mix has been with us since August of 2022, and we’re hoping 2025 is her year! Sophie is a treasure to those she trusts. It may take a little time for her to warm up to new faces, but once she does, her joyful and loving nature shines brightly. She’s the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the sweet, quieter moments as well as the playful times.
Sophie has a heart full of love and is waiting for the right person to share it with. Sophie has a fondness for car rides, where she can watch the world go by and feel the breeze on her face. Her playful spirit comes alive with the sound of a squeaky toy.
Sophie’s adoption fee is sponsored by Brandie Lingard! Thank you for spreading the love, Brandie.
Shelter public hours are 12-5pm Wednesday through Sunday. Please phone 707-964-7726 with questions or to start an adoption. MCHS, 19691 Summers Lane, Fort Bragg. mendocinohumane.org
