MENDOCINO CO., 2/26/25– The National Weather Service issued a beach hazard warning for Thursday along the Mendocino Coast.
The service is asking people to avoid steep beaches, rocks and jetties.
The warning is in place from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Thursday.
According to the weather service, “large, unexpected waves can sweep across the beach without warning, sweeping people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches.” The service also said that large objects such as logs can be moved by the waves, crushing people and pets caught underneath.
“Don’t be fooled by an ocean that looks calm,” the service said. “There can be 30 minutes of small waves before a sneaker wave strikes…stay much further back from the water and never turn your back on the ocean.”
Mendocino County’s many microclimates mean diverse weather conditions from one area to the next. To learn more about the weather and warnings in your area, visit weather.gov.

Took both out to sea. I missed them so much. This was 50 years ago.
Please for the love of God Do NOT turn your back towards the sea.
Today when I see people playing in the rough surf. I want to yell STOP!
Please don’t play in the surf !!
