UKIAH, CA., 11/2/24 — An afternoon rally promoted on Facebook drew about a hundred Trump supporters to wave signs and flags on Ukiah’s Airport Park Blvd., across from the Walmart parking lot. The two-hour rally generated hundreds of horn honks, though it was unclear whether a few of those honks were supporting the mother and daughter pair who stood across the street with signs promoting Kamala Harris. Most, however, were Trump supporters, often young men who shouted with glee out open car windows while shaking their fists.

Most of the supporters on the sidewalk waving signs were an older demographic than the drivers. Mary Glanders, from Willits, said that Trump was the voice of the people, a man who “wants to keep us safe and in a good financial state.” She thought for a moment and then added, “and free speech without censorship!” When asked if most rally goers were from Mendocino County, she said a lot were but that some were from Lakeport and other parts of Lake County.

Linda Lima, from Fort Bragg, said she likes Trump’s policies. “When he tells his people God bless you, he is honest and he loves his country. He’s a kind-hearted, God-loving person.” Lima thought Trump’s four years in the White House were the best presidency she’d observed in her life. “Well, Reagan too,” she demurred.

Sitting beside her on a camp chair was Vietnam vet David Lotten from Willits. Lotten acknowledged that there is truth on both sides of every issue. “It’s OK to disagree,” he said, “but when it gets violent is where I draw the line.” Lotten believes the numbers of uninformed citizens has created a dangerous situation. “It comes down to scripture,” he said. “The reason we’re such a great country is that the Constitution is based on Judeo-Christian principles. It’s all about fairness and love.”

Several other rally goers mentioned fairness and a belief that Trump is for the people, two talking points for Vice President Kamala Harris as well. The Trump supporters were nervous about how the election would play out—as were the Harris supporters across the street.

The two residents of Willits, who did not want their names used, moved from corner to corner as some of the younger Trump supporters edged in front of them to face the honking lines of cars. The two would cross to another unoccupied corner, only to attract another group intent on blocking their Harris banner and handmade signs. “A rough crowd,” said the daughter.

Instead it seemed an anxious crowd. Both sides foretold doom if the other party won. Yet the only thing crystal-clear was how much all these people, for Trump or Harris, love their country.

  1. Trump is a buffoon idiot dolt in an utter embarrassment. He is a very rich, stupid. Every time he opens his mouth he is embarrassed as himself and who he thinks he represents. That fool don’t represent. God damn idiot. Rich. Anybody ever that supports drunk idiot as well. Stupid dumb people. And I can guarantee you the Trump ain’t from God… Bunch of morons

    1. The Vet who said the Constitution is set on Christian-Judeo values is right, but Trump has mocked many of those rights/values by his words and behaviors. He doesn’t care about the people. He only cares about himself!

  2. 1st Amendment to The Constitution Of The United States -(in part):
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” Correctly interpreted: ‘Separation Of
Church and State’… In other words: You have the freedom to practice ANY Religion, however -The Tennents of said religion CANNOT be ENFORCED by Law(s) enacted by ratification through Congress

  3. … ALSO -Another Reason (and point of fact): This Country is NOT a ‘Christian Nation’ -THAT is a fallacy promulgated by Christian Evangelical Nationalists! NONE of our Founding Fathers were ‘Christian’! At BEST George Washington was a ‘Unitarian’. The great majority of our Founding Fathers were ‘Deists’ (i.e., they believed in a Higher Power -w/o ALL of Organized Religion’s DOGMA!)😒… HERE’S the PROOF:
“The Government Of The United States Of America is in NO SENSE founded upon the Christian Religion…”
-The Treaty Of Tripoli, Signed by John Adams & ratified in 1797

PEOPLE NEED TO DO THEIR HOMEWORK -& STOP UNDERMINING OUR ESSENTIAL FREEDOMS BY PROMULGATING LIES FROM THOSE WHO SEEK TO TAKE AWAY THOSE ‘INALIENABLE RIGHTS’ -IN PURSUIT OF OUR WILLFULLY BLIND ENSLAVEMENT!!! WAKE-THE-FUCK-UP!!!😳

  4. Furthermore, I failed to mention the fact that one of our Founding Fathers was an atheist: Thomas Paine. He was so reviled by The Church Of England, that they nicknamed him: ‘The Dirty Little Atheist’. He & Thomas Jefferson would routinely maintain correspondence, opining & arguing about whether or not there was ANY Real Truth in the Bible. So, one day Thomas Jefferson cannibalized a King James Bible by tearing-out ALMOST everything in it -SAVE the words of Jesus & a few other passages he resonated with. He then had it rebound & sent off by courier to Paine… On that note, Jefferson stated: “HERE -U’ve sifted a few diamonds from The Dung Heap!”😏… That Abridged King James book is known to anyone who knows their history as: ‘The Jeffersonian Bibley’ -& it resides under bulletproof glass at The Smithsonian Institute!😉…
DO YOUR HOMEWORK: This is NOT a ‘Christian Nation’ -& STOP SPREADING THIS LIE!!!🤬

  5. CORRECTION: Thomas Jefferson sent the abridged Bible off to Paine with a note attached that read: “HERE -I’ve sifted a few diamonds from The Dung Heap!”

    I HATE MY PHONE’S AUTOCORRECT!!!🤬

    1. All these so called “patriots” who are wearing the American flag as clothing aren’t patriots.

      Respectful display:
Flag laws typically emphasize displaying the flag with the union (star field) facing upwards, not allowing it to touch the ground, and not using it for advertising or clothing purposes.

  6. Mary Glanders, from Willits, said that Trump was the voice of the people, a man who “wants to keep us safe and in a good financial state.” She thought for a moment and then added, “and free speech without censorship!” Well, Mary, a man who wants to keep us safe does not start a riot at the Capitol. A man who wants to keep us in good financial state does not sign tax laws that benefit only the rich, And it is Republicans who are banning books–that is censorship of free speech. What happened to “Mexico will pay for the wall”? Trump spent 6.3B of taxpayers money on less than 300 of wall that was breached immediately. And it is easy to discover how few times he has actually attended a regular church service–his actions show he is not a Christian. How about those 34 felony convictions? A jury of his peers found him guilty. His Access Hollywood tape should have disgusted any person who has a mother, sister, daughter or other female relative that they love. He is a malignant narcissist and will serve only himself.
