MENDOCINO CO., 10/28/24 – Two candidates, including one incumbent, are running to represent Comptche on the Mendocino Unified School District board.  

To help voters make their decision on the Nov. 5 election ballot, KAKX, Mendocino High School’s student-run radio station, is hosting a debate between the two candidates on Tuesday. 

Incumbent Michael Schaeffer will debate challenger Jim Gagnon. Schaeffer has served on the board for the past four years.  

According to the County of Mendocino’s candidate list, Gagnon is a self-described software entrepreneur. According to an online resume, Gagnon co-founded Abacus Concepts in 1984, a data analysis and database consulting firm. The firm was acquired by SAS Institute in 1997. Gagnon has lived in Mendocino County for over 20 years.
