UKIAH, CA., 10/3/24 – Anyone who has been in Ukiah on a hot day knows it can be sweltering. Anyone who has been in Ukiah during a 100-degree-plus heat wave knows it’s scorching.
This week, it was scorching. So scorching that the National Weather Service Eureka (NWS) announced Thursday morning that Ukiah broke three temperature records.
According to NWS, Tuesday’s temperature at Ukiah Municipal Airport hit 106 degrees, one degree higher than the 1952 record of 105 degrees on the same date.
On Wednesday, the airport hit 107 degrees, two degrees higher than the 1980 record of 105 degrees for that date. Wednesday was also the hottest day ever recorded for the month of October in Ukiah since recordkeeping began in 1903.
Temperatures are forecast to hit 102 degrees in Ukiah on Thursday. The hottest Oct. 3 on record in Ukiah was 103, according to NWS, which advised another record-breaking day is possible.
As of Thursday morning, there are no heat advisories in place.
