WILLITS, CA., 10/10/24 – “Personal and universal” is how poet Armand Brint describes his work. The acclaimed Ukiah poet will perform at the Willits Community Theatre on Saturday.

Brint served as the first Poet Laureate of Ukiah from 2001 to 2003. He co-founded the ukiaHaiku Festival and has taught poetry and creative writing at the university level. He is a recipient of the Jane Reichhold International Haiku Award from the ukiaHaiku Festival.

He describes himself as a storyteller, creating “poems…with a twist. [I] often employ humor or playfulness as essential elements.” Brint pulls from personal experiences and interactions to craft his works, often setting his poems in Mendocino County.

Brint will read works from his latest collection “Songs for the Afterlife.” His reading will be followed by an open reading during which members of the public may read poems.

Armand Brint performs Sat., Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Willits Community Theatre, 37 W. Van Ln., Willits. Suggested donation $10. Contact (707) 216-1826 or wctperformingartscenter.org for more information.
