MENDOCINO CO., 10/1/24 – Chris Rogers, candidate for California 2nd State Assembly district, is hosting two community coffee events Sunday.
The events will take place in Willits and Ukiah.
The candidate has served as a Santa Rosa City Councilmember since 2016. He also served as mayor. Prior to that, Rogers was a senior staffer for Senator Mike McGuire.
Rogers served on the Santa Rosa City Council during the 2017 Tubbs Fire that burned over 38,000 acres, killed 22 individuals and destroyed over 5,600 structures in Sonoma, Napa and Lake counties. In response, two of his major issues, according to his candidate website, are fire and homeowner’s insurance as well as climate change, but he does not provide policy proposals.
Regarding health care, Rogers supports universal health care and expanding rural health care and access to hospitals. He’s interested in expanding broadband infrastructure, sustainable agriculture and green economies. He wants to reduce the housing shortage and praises programs like Fort Bragg’s Care Response Unit in addressing homelessness.
Rogers also claims he will “hold PG&E accountable and ensure that the California Public Utilities Commission starts advocating for the needs of the North Coast’s working families.”
The community coffee events allow Rogers to mix and mingle with voters, who are invited to ask questions, share thoughts and hear his vision for the 2nd District.
The first event on Sunday is at Lumberjack’s (1740 S. Main St.) in Willits at 11 a.m., followed by a second event at 2:30 p.m. at Black Oak Coffee (476. N. State St.) in Ukiah.
