UKIAH, CA., 9/5/24 – The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is seeking the public’s assistance to determine what caused the Masonite Fire in Ukiah on Tuesday.
The fire burned near Masonite Road and Highway 101 on Tuesday afternoon. The fire heavily impacted traffic, resulting in the closure of Highway 101 in both directions, as well as the closure of the North State Street exit. One block of North State Street was evacuated, and the surrounding area was under an evacuation warning.
MCSO detectives, in partnership with the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, are investigating the cause of the fire. Investigators are asking anyone who has photographs or videos of the area before fire personnel arrived to submit the files as evidence to aid in the investigation.
