MENDOCINO CO., 9/7/24 – September is library card sign-up month, and Mendocino County Library, which operates six libraries in the county, is encouraging families to sign their kids up for free library cards.
Here’s the official announcement:
Discover the amazing resources and opportunities available with a library card by celebrating Library Card Sign-up Month with Mendocino County Library and our Bookmobile. Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, find valuable information, utilize educational resources, enjoy free programming for children and adults, or connect with fellow avid readers, a library card unlocks a world of possibilities.
Today’s libraries are vibrant community centers offering much more than books. At Mendocino County Library, you’ll find diverse programs, job search assistance, book clubs, author talks, storytimes, and more. Explore learning a new language, get free passes to visit museums and other attractions, borrow kits to help with baking, pasta making, literacy, and even kits for loved ones with dementia and other memory issues. Are you homebound? No problem! We have a library-by-mail service that may be exactly what you’re looking for.
“I got my first library card when I was seven years old,” said County Librarian Mellisa Hannum. “I remember I was so excited that my fingers were tingling as I took my card from the librarian. Suddenly, an entire world of knowledge became available! That access is something that I’ve never taken for granted.”
At Mendocino County Library there is something for everyone. Getting a library card is easy, an essential step toward academic success for students, and a path to lifelong learning for everyone! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to discover all the library has to offer. Visit us at any of our six branches or the Bookmobile to sign up for a regular library card, Agency card, or Educator card today!
