UKIAH, CA., 9/12/24 – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will conduct a DUI checkpoint in Ukiah on Friday to look for anyone driving under the influence.

The sobriety checkpoint will be set up from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location in the city.

CHP says that its goal is to reduce the risk of injury and fatal crashes caused by intoxicated drivers. It also reminds those who plan to drink alcohol to designate a sober driver rather than risk driving under the influence.

  1. Having served as Fed Leo I can say with confidence (not 100%) LEO in state have to pass the mandated P.O.S.T basic certification for consideration to serve as LEO. Security guards should have this minimum certification credential. If armed there is certification course, as for other LEO equipment such as tasers, PC-25 baton, etc. State LEO might require graduation from accredited police academy. I began with community college AA degree in Police Science (as it was known 1968). After hiatus of Vietnam conflict I dropped out then pursued AS Welding Tech degree. Five years later I returned to LEO career. With first credential I was hired as USDI Fish and wild life service. Weeks of training for fed LEO and some field work before 8 weeks at US Border Patrol Academy for certification as US Fish and Wildlife Conservation Officer. A couple years later I went to USDI Bureau Of Indian Affairs BIA police. I was candidate for new all-in-one natural resources development manger specialist. (weird-I know?) With all my fed credentials I could not administrate State of California penal codes unless certificated with PC-832. Thus I attended local evening course and passed firearms requirement. State LEO are top of line and as professional as fed LEO. CHP gets ya DUI-OUCH!
