MENDOCINO CO., 8/29/24 – The Round Valley Skatepark Project is asking for the community to provide ideas on what the park should look like and what features it should offer.

Ideas may include art installations (including those that are skateable), cultural features and other offerings that reflect the values, culture, history and future of Covelo and Round Valley.

The Round Valley Skatepark Project is contracting with Dreamland Skateparks, an Oregon-based skatepark designer and builder. The project met with Dreamland co-owner Danyel Scott in July. Scott is eliciting feedback so her team can present concepts to the community.

The project started in 2022 when community members began rallying to provide local youth a place to call their own, something much needed in Round Valley, where poverty, crime, gang activity, violence and substance abuse is high.

In July, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors approved county staff to investigate the possibility of transferring county-owned land near the Covelo Airport to serve as the skatepark site.

Feedback and ideas must be submitted by September 2 to Danyel Scott at dreamlandskateparks@gmail.com.
