MENDOCINO Co., 8/20/24 – Laytonville has been through many iterations in its 150 years: lumber town, home to back-to-the-landers, the best cannabis breeders on earth, and the most generous community to its graduating seniors, sending many students off to college with hundreds of dollars in scholarships.
Now, turning 150, the community is throwing a party, courtesy of the Laytonville Rodeo Association. The event is called Taste of Summer, and it includes a cornhole tournament (with teams!), local whiskey and wine tasting (yes, Laytonville has vineyards too), and live music, featuring Scott Forbes. Smokey’s BBQ will supply super food.
Presale tickets cost $20 (kids 12 and under free) and are available at two local gems: Pour Girls Coffee and Long Valley Feed. Or just come to the rodeo grounds and fork over $25. Gates open at 1pm. The cornhole tournament starts at 2pm.
