FORT BRAGG, CA., 8/11/24 — On Monday, August 12, visual artist and educator Solange Roberdeau will make an original suminagashi print for the Larry Spring Museum’s project, Redwood Time. Suminagashi (floating ink) is the Japanese printing tradition of floating sumi ink on water to create unique prints resembling growth rings in tree slices.

The print will be created onsite in Spring Commons in a handmade tank scaled to the size of the museum window. Printing outdoors means the forms in the final work will be affected by the elements and the environment of the commons. The print will be “pulled” with the help of many hands and hung in the Museum’s window.
