MENDOCINO 3/11/20 — As the beginning of the Ukiah Streetscape project draws near, an infrsatrucutre project that will substantially recreate the streets and sidewalks of Ukiah’s downtown core, the City of Ukiah is holding a forum where people can meet the project team and have questions answered.
Here is the press release from the City of Ukiah:
CITY OF UKIAH ANNOUNCES DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE PROJECT COMMUNITY FORUM ON THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2019 FROM 6 p.m. –7:30 P.M.
Ukiah, CA. March 6, 2020 — Construction of the Downtown Ukiah Streetscape Project is scheduled to begin mid-April. In preparation, the City of Ukiah invites the community to meet the project team, view current designs, and get their questions answered at a community forum on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center, 200 South School Street.
“The final project design reflects years’ worth of input from the community and stakeholders, and is an important investment in our community,” said Shannon Riley, Deputy City Manager. “For decades, State Street has been a physical and economic barrier in the heart of our downtown, and feels really unsafe to both drivers and pedestrians. This project changes that. We recognize that the construction period will be challenging at times, but we’re doing everything we can to make it as smooth as possible for the downtown businesses, their customers, and the community, and we’re confident that the end result will be a safer, more efficient, and completely transformed downtown.”
The Streetscape Project includes the reconfiguration of travel lanes, enhanced vehicle and pedestrian safety features, and beautification to the downtown district. The project is designed to improve the appearance and functionality of this important corridor and is the result of numerous community workshops, extensive studies by traffic engineers, and input from stakeholders. In conjunction with this project, underground utilities will also be replaced.

Instead of fixing the streets find somewhere for the homeless to go that have campers rvs and tents to go. All the appartment buildings benning bulit or have been bulit are for other services. I know I was one who helped build the Willow Trace. Those are for mental health only. Where is all the funding the city got. And that new day center did not coast that much to add on to. May be we need a federal invagination done on Ukiah and it’s City and county council members done. May be it will happen here soon if the city and county council members don’t find a place for them.
I agree. All of the buildings benning bulit should be subject to federal invagination.
