WILLITS, 6/17/19 — Traffic is was delayed, as of about 1:20 p.m., on State Route 20 west of Willits as firefighters and law enforcement address a collision that occurred just after noon on Monday. The collision appears to be just over nine miles west of Willits, and traffic in both lanes may be impacted as tow trucks and other personnel are trying to access the scene.
There were multiple injuries and an air ambulance had to be called, though landing was difficult.
Initial reports of the incident indicate that a single vehicle, a Silver Mazda Miata, went into an embankment, with the occupant potentially suffering some injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol incident report. However, there seems to have been another collision reported twenty minutes later, involving a semi-truck that may have crossed the yellow line and collided with another vehicle. The semi may be full of food and have a rear axle out of alignment, making it difficult to remove from the road.
Avoid the area if necessary or take caution and watch for slowed traffic and first responders if traveling between Willits and Fort Bragg — CalTrans is currently placing signage to notify drivers that the road may be impacted until the area is cleared.
