MENDOCINO Co., 6/26/17 — Happening this weekend, the Kate Wolf Festival has been a Mendocino favorite for 24 years now, with a diverse line-up of different acts and plenty of local vendors setting up at Black Oak Ranch. This year, the festival is offering evening-only tickets, perfect for those who can’t make it for a full day — or weekend — but still want to catch some of the headline musical performances taking place on four different stages, including Los Lobos, Kris Kristofferson, Booker T’s Stax Revue, John Hiatt, the California Honeydrops, Ruthie Foster, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Las Cafeteras, and many more.
The festival kicks off Thursday night, and continues through Sunday night, and beyond the many different musical acts, includes workshops, food, craft, and non-profit vendors, a kids area, yoga and Tai-chi, and swimming in Ten Mile creek, which runs through the 150 acre property.
For the first time ever, this year’s festival will also include the Kind Bud Lounge, where you can purchase cannabis from Mendocino and Southern Humboldt farms and enjoy a lounge area — one of the first cannabis events permits issued for Mendocino County under California’s new cannabis regulations. The statewide Bureau of Cannabis Control issued the temporary cannabis permit license for Kind Bud Lounge on Monday June 24th, according to organizer Karen Byars.
The Kind Bud Lounge will feature retail booths including Henry’s Original, Emerald City Distribution with Waxy’s, Sovereign Dispensary, Leonard Moore Cooperative featuring Emerald Exchange Outpost farmers from Mendocino and Flow Kana products, including Willie’s Reserve, and a booth from Mendocino Cannabis Resource. There will be a Moroccan-themed lounge provided by InTents. The lounge will be open from 12 pm to 10 pm from Thursday and then 10 am to 10 pm until Sunday; more details on the event’s Facebook page.
