MENDOCINO Co., 5/28/19 — One woman died today in a single car accident, when she drove her silver Mercury Tracer over the embankment on U.S. Route 101, in front of Frog Woman Rock, in southern Mendocino County. The woman was 69, and her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
She was apparently driving alone, southbound on the 101, at mile marker 5, south of Hopland, when she drove over the side and the car crash onto its roof, on along the bank of the Russian River.
The reason for the crash is currently unknown. The Hopland Fire Department was aided by a helicopter from the California Highway Patrol, in recovering the body. Footage of that can be seen below, from a Facebook post made by Hopland Fire.

On 05/28/2019 at approximately 1700 hours, the Ukiah Communications Center was notified of a traffic collision on southbound US-101 just north of mile marker 5.00. A silver Mercury Tracer was traveling southbound on US-101 north of mile marker 5.00 when it left the roadway and off a dirt/grass embankment. The Mercury collided with the embankment and overturned onto its roof next to the Russian River, The occupant was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. The date, tiine, and cause of this collision are still under investigation.
