WILLITS, 3/13/19 — The social media platform Facebook is currently down, or partially down, for people across the world, including in Mendocino, and including The Mendocino Voice. Also compromised are two other services owned and operated by Facebook: Instagram and Whatsapp.
The outages have been going on for several hours. Many people are able to log on to the website, but not post or send messages, in some cases commenting and reading comments are also compromised.
The reason for the outage has not been made public, and it’s unclear if the reason is know. It is also interesting to note that Gmail, run by Google, was down for millions yesterday.
As far as the Mendo Voice is concerned, we are publishing here, at our website, but we do not seem able to make posts on Facebook, so this is a good moment to remind everyone that we are not a Facebook site, we’re a whole website that also posts to Facebook.
