MENDOCINO CO., 11/22/18 — Not sure where you’re going for Thanksgiving, or know someone who might be spending it hungry, or alone? There are a number a free or very affordable community dinners happening around the county today, so consider joining up with your friends and neighbors at one of these events, many of which could also use volunteers.

Ukiah – Plowshares Peace & Justice Center typically serves a free Thanksgiving dinner at the regularly scheduled lunch, from 11:30 to 12pm at 1346 S State Street in Ukiah. You can call for more details at 707.462.8582.
Ukiah – the Ukiah Senior Center, 12pm at Bartlett Hall, 285 Leslie Street. $8 for members, who can purchase one additional ticket at a member price; $10 for non-members, limited seating available. There is limited seating, so advance reservation and ticket purchases are requested; call 707.462-4343 to see if tickets are still available. Here’s the event flyer.
Willits – the 29th annual Harrah Senior Center Thanksgiving Dinner, 11am – 3pm at the Harrah Senior Center, 1501 Baechtel Rd, Willits. Everyone is welcome and the dinner is free but donations are accepted. “This is our 29th opportunity to celebrate our “Thanks” in community and share our good will with people from all walks of life. Please join us as we come together in this traditional event,” says the Facebook event description.
Laytonville – Free community dinner at Harwood Hall from 2 – 5 p.m., organized by the “Thankful friends of Laytonville.” Here’s all the details in the flyer. Get in touch with Healthy Start to volunteer or make a donation at 707-984-8089.
Fort Bragg – free annual dinner at the First Presbyterian Church, 2 – 4pm, 367 South Sanderson, Fort Bragg. Everyone is welcome, the dinner is complimentary although donations are accepted to help defer costs. Meals will also be delivering to the greater Fort Bragg area, and volunteers are needed both before and after the dinner. Fort Bragg – vegan community Thanksgiving potluck coordinated by the Living Light Culinary Institute, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Living Light International, upstairs at the Company Store, 301-C North Main St. in Fort Bragg. “Bring an organic, plant-based dish to serve 10 people.
