MENDOCINO CO., 10/1/18 — Does your child need a medical check-up? The tenth annual “Wild About Health” free children’s health fair is happening in Ukiah on October 7, where you and your family can get free health screenings, participate in educational health activities, and connect with health-focused resources throughout the region.
The health fair will take place on Sunday, October 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alex Rorabaugh Recreation Center located on the Grace Hudson school campus in Ukiah at 1640 S. State Street. Free medical screenings will be available, including vision, dental, and diabetes. Kids should bring their bikes, since there will also be free bike safety repairs and bike helmets available. Each child will receive a “passport,” which they can get stamped as they make their way through a variety of different health-related activities at different booths — and then be eligible to win a prize basket.

The fair is expected to attract more than 400 children and their families who will participate in free health screenings and gain valuable information about resources available to them in our community.
A passport to health is given to each child upon arrival, which challenges them to travel through the “sea” of fun activities and health screenings. A few of the healthscreenings offered are, vision, dental and diabetes. Each child will have the opportunity to visit over 20 interactive booths where they will learn about healthy eating, staying fit and bike safety. Every child will have their passport stamped at each booth they visit. Once they have filled their passport with stamps, they can drop it off for a chance to win a prize basket filled with toys, crafts, books and local gift certificates.
Kids are encouraged to bring their bikes and receive a free bike safety check-up and participate in the bike safety course. Those in need will also receive a free bike helmet. Other activities include music provided by DJ Ken Steely, bowling, balloon art and much more.
Hundreds of families attend this event each year. While the kids are having fun at booths, parents gain valuable information about available services from a variety of organizations in the community. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Be sure to mark your calendar for Sunday, October 7th.
