MENDOCINO Co., 8/28/18 — The California Highway Patrol will be conducting a “maximum enforcement period” this Labor Day weekend. The “MEP” will last from 6 p.m. on Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, and will mean that “all available CHP officers will be on duty,” with the goal of reducing drunk or impaired driving.
Over last year’s Labor Day weekend, 30 people were killed in traffic accidents and the CHP made over 1,000 arrests for driving under the influence.
