MENDOCINO CO., 7/19/18 — Northern Nights, the annual musical festival and camp-out held in Piercy, is back this year with an interesting discount — people who buy $100 of Mendocino or Humboldt cannabis, will get discounts to the festival happening this weekend.
In an novel cross-promotion, which might herald more of the kind branding that cannabis legalization has led to, Northern Nights has teamed up with The Emerald Cup, as well as a variety of Mendocino and Humboldt cannabis farms to encourage festival attendees to shop local. Since 2016 the he festival has featured the “Tree Lounge,” where visitors can learn about and enjoy local cannabis, and bills itself as “the first-ever official designated area for on-site consumption of medical marijuana at a music and art festival in California.” This year, guests will be able to consume cannabis in both the Tree Lounge and the VIP area. However, on-site sales of weed will not be allowed, due to California regulations — a situation that prompted the “farm-to-dispensary” ticket offer.
