MENDOCINO Co., 6/06/18 — CalFire will be conducting a controlled burn in the Hopland area on Friday, June 8, on the property of the University of California Hopland Research Extension Center on University Road. The burn take place from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and smoke and aircraft will likely be visible from east of Highway 101 and north of State Route 175.
The burn is being conducted a part of a vegetation management program, and is has been scheduled at this time to minimize air quality impacts. The goal of the prescribed burn is to re-introduce fire into the ecosystem to reduce the potential for larger fires and improve wildlife habitat.
