MENDOCINO CO., 6/5/18 — It’s election day in California, and it’s a big one in Mendocino County. And if you’re wondering where your polling station is, we have a list for you!

California holds its big elections for statewide office on midterm years, so turn-out tends to lower, and primary turns outs can be even lower — but this primary has been an exciting one in Mendocino County, with five people running for the District 5 supervisor’s seat, eight running in District 3, and a very competitive race with three candidates for county assessor-clerk-recorder. In all three of those races there is no incumbent. The outcome of these races could potentially totally flip the direction of the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors, and change county policy on a variety of issues.

This being a primary, today’s election will only determine the top two candidates, who will proceed to into a head-to-head race in the general.

Results from the polls will begin to be posted at 8 p.m. tonight at the county’s election website, but the final results for most positions will not be immediately available. The Mendocino Voice will continue to update the results while the ballots are being counted as more information becomes available.

If you have questions about who is running, or would like to review some interviews you can see our past election coverage here. The candidates’ official campaign statements are on the county’s website, and you can check the status of your mail-in ballot also.

Also, even if you are not registered to vote, you can file a last minute registration and provisional ballot at the county offices at 501 Low Gap Rd. in Ukiah.
