MENDOCINO CO., 3/21/18 — California State Route 53 (Hwy. 53) is closed in Lower Lake, near the junction with Hwy. 29, due to the presence of a suspicious “device.” People are asked to avoid the area while law enforcement deals with the situation. The California Highway Patrol issued a press release concerning the situation at 12:55 p.m.
The road is expected to reopen in about two hours.
