Update, 7/18/17, 8pm: The “Comminsky Fire” near Highway 128 has been fully contained, the final size was two and a half acres. All resources have been released.

Update 12:45pm — CalFire is reporting the forward progress on the fire has stopped and the fire is at two acres and is 9% contained. Crews will remain at the scene building containment lines but according to scanner traffic, some resources are being released. Here’s a Tweet from CalFire:

12:15pm: A grass fire about two acres in size is burning in the general vicinity of Highway 128 and Echo Valley Road, which is located west of the intersection of Highway 101 and Geyser Road. Both CalFire and Hopland Fire crews are on the scene as of 11:50am. A photo of the location is included below. The fire is being described by CalFire as having a “slow rate of spread,” and has been dubbed the “Comminsky Fire.”
At least one helicopter and tanker are on the scene, and flame retardant has been dropped over about 80-90% the area, according to scanner traffic at about 12:15pm. Firefighters are also describing the fire’s spread as “holding real good,” over the scanner. The fire response is staging at Highway 128 and Mountain House Road and firefighters are currently locating additional access points to fight the fire. Additional water tenders have been requested and are expected to arrive within an hour.
